The Professional Law Enforcement Association Foundation is just 3 years old, but has already had a strong impact on the community. Through donations and fundraisers we are proving successful in living up to our mission, which is to provide support with training costs and equipment to law enforcement professionals, including k9 officers in need.
Our current initiative, and the goal of this 5k is to fundraise enough money to supply the local Police Departments with new bulletproof vests and other needed equipment for their k9 officers! Police Departments can spend upwards of $20,000 to train a k9 officer and handler, but sometimes don't have enough in the budget to protect these officers. This is where we step in to help protect them!
The I Support The K9s Color Run 5K will be the fifth 5K that the PLEA Foundation has run and we are excited to have everyone join us. Please come out and support law enforcement officers, they need it more now than ever.

FAQ's:
Does it cost money to enter Stony Creek Metropark? Yes. It costs $10 per car to enter into the park. So if you are participating in a group/team, feel free to carpool! If you have an annual Metropark pass, you can use that to enter. NOTE: Metropark pass is not the same as the State Park Pass that is offered from the Secretary of State.
Will this race be timed? This is a fun run for all ages and all levels, so there will be no timing at this event. If you would like to be timed, please feel free to time yourself! We also have a timed run at River Bends Park in the late summer/early fall if you would like to help our cause and participate in that 5K!
Are children under 5 or strollers allowed? Yes! This event is family-friendly and we would love to have you! We ask children under the age of 5 to be in a stroller. The parents or legal guardian will have to sign a waiver for their child upon check-in. Strollers are also allowed on the path. We just ask to please be courteous to the runners on the path and let them run by you if they pass.
Are pets allowed? Your friendly four-legged friends are welcome to walk/run with you on the trails! The park police says the dogs must be on a leash at all times and cannot swim/be on the beach. Dogs must be friendly to the general public/other dogs. If you would like more information on the dog policy, please contact Stony Creek Metropark directly.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to call us at 248-554-3335 and we will be more than happy to answer your questions.
